A shadchun is someone who has an "idea" that two people "belong" with each other to get married.
Just like musicians and artists who have "ideas" and they are not alike at all, so too the shadchun's "ideas" will be music and art to some and "garbage" to others.
Where do the musician and artist get their "ideas"? Well, where does anyone get "their" ideas?
According to the Holy Seforim, a Shadchun's ideas are supposed to equal to a "Noviah"- a prophecy. ANYONE can have this prophecy. Therefore, if one does not introduce and/or suggest to both sides the "idea" it is equivalent to "Jonah the Prophet" who was punished when he did not want to say the Prophecy.
Anyone that "gets" an idea of a shiduch has to make sure that somehow that idea is communicated. Saying that they will be looked as an idiot or even worse is no excuse. In fact, any excuse is no excuse.
